Choose Your Plants
Right Plant, Right Place
The plants in the following plant lists were selected to support our target list of the Hudson Valley’s native, at-risk pollinators. These plants provide nectar or pollen or are used as host plants, with many plants playing multiple roles for pollinators.
The Complete Pollinator Action Plant List
This list, in spreadsheet form, contains all 155 plant species recommended to support our Target Pollinator List. Each row provides detailed information on a single plant species, including all of its connections to target pollinator species (right-hand columns). If you’re working with a designer, we recommend providing them with this full plant list to inform their plant choices.

These printable lists contain curated selections of pollinator-supporting plants from the full plant list. They’re a great place to start if you’re new to native plants or just looking for a few species to add to existing gardens.
Forage Plants for Specialist Bees
When choosing plants, remember that the best plantings have something blooming from earliest spring to late fall. Aim for a diversity of bloom times and functions (host plants, pollen providers and nectar sources) and a variety of plant types - sedges and shrubs are just as important (and beautiful) as flowering perennials.
